Capezio is a company that makes clothing and products for dancing, they are very well known in the dance scene. They have a reputation for being a reliable and good quality company with clothing that lasts a long time. This company is a major player in the dance world and supplies many dance troupes and schools with its products.
Capezio was founded over a hundred years ago in New Jersey by an Italian designer. The company has dabbled in fashion, not just dance, and has won awards in its industry. Having developed into a well respected brand, the name Capezio itself carries a lot of strength.

The company has a great understanding of dancer’s needs, and knows where it roots are. It was originally a business that made stage shoes for the Metropolitan Opera in New York, so the company certainly understands comfort and safety when moving on stage flooring for long periods of time. Its engineering of pointe shoes, especially, became a revolutionary strong point for the company.

It is understandable that this is where they got their big start. Pointe shoes are extremely difficult to get right and if incorrectly made, can cause injury to dancers. It is very important that the shoes are made in such a way that protects the dancer’s feet, whilst allowing optimum flexibility. Capezio has been able to make these shoes much safer and much more comfortable than they used to be.

It is not all about ballet, though. They also produce good quality ballroom and Latin products. Using split-sole technology (which makes for a sturdy toe and heel, while the sole of the foot is only covered by very flexible material), the company has allowed dancers to protect their feet while still having the flexibility of being barefoot.

Broadway is another huge market, and this has bordered into musical movies. The strength here is to design shoes that are extremely durable, very comfortable, and historically and personally accurate for characters. This is not always an easy task, but Capezio use all their expertise and the latest technology to produce the most amazing costume shoes to suit all kinds of stage work.

It has also made ice skating wear, though not actually gone into the production of ice skates. This is better left to other companies, since it is an entirely different realm. They stick more to skate covers and costumes, which they also do for their other areas of dance, sport, and entertainment. The costumes have to be extremely light so as not to inhibit any movement, have enough durable sparkle to last and be seen, and also be warm enough so the skaters or dancers can concentrate, while still being of a breathable fabric. A tall order, some might say, but second nature to Capezio.
